FG Launches National Talent Export Programme to Tackle Unemployment

The Federal Government has taken a significant step towards addressing the issue of unemployment in Nigeria with the inauguration of the ‘National Talent Export Programme (NATEP)’. This program is designed to serve as a special-purpose vehicle, aiming to create at least one million jobs over the next five years.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, during a side event at the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The event, titled ‘Positioning Nigeria as a Global Talent Hub’, showcased Nigeria’s commitment to diversify its economy and generate sustainable opportunities, especially for youth employment.

“NATEP is a key national initiative that will position Nigeria as a leading global hub for service export, talent sourcing, and talent export,” Minister Uzoka-Anite stated. She further emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to create 50 million jobs for Nigerian youth and boost economic diversification.

Media Talk Africa reported that President Bola Tinubu led the Nigerian delegation to the UNGA last Sunday, where the National Talent Export Programme was unveiled.
