FCT Union of Journalists Gets New Leadership

The Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ Federal Capital Territory FCT Council has elected a new Chairman and Vice Chairman for the union.

They are Mr. Patrick Osarenti of Tribune and Mr. Timothy Choji of Voice of Nigeria VON.

They were elected unopposed by members of the council at the Secretariate in Abuja, following the departure of the immediate past Chairman Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche to his new assignment as the Chief press secretary to Cross River State Government.

The new NUJ FCT Chairman and his Vice are to serve for eleven months to complete the tenure.

The Chairman Mr Patrick Osarenti said, the election reinforces the vision, growth, and development that the council stands for, which is a Fresh Start.

“This has become synonymous with the welfare of our esteemed members and a commitment to bold action. We have witnessed the remarkable achievements of the Fresh Start Reloaded movement, and it is my solemn promise that this mandate will continue to prioritise the welfare of our members and ensure the council’s unwavering dedication to progress.”

He said the visionary move by the immediate past Chairman Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche ensured that the revenue generated from the property of the council would benefit the next administration.

“This is a testament to our foresight and commitment to securing a better future for our members.”

“Under the Fresh Start Reloaded movement, we initiated and implemented numerous capacity training programs for the benefit of our esteemed members.”

Osarenti pledged the commitment to making the remaining period a successful one with the support of members.

“Although our time is short, we vow to make the most of it. We will ensure that the remaining tenure of the Fresh Start mandate is eventful and memorable for all.

 Our collective efforts in pushing for improvements within the union will require continuous support from each and every one of you”
