Nnamdi Kanu: Victim, Not Villain – IPOB Lawyer Urges Ohanaeze Ahead of Meeting with Tinubu

Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has expressed his thoughts on the upcoming meeting between Ohanaeze Ndigbo and President Bola Tinubu regarding the continued detention of the agitator.

Ejimakor emphasized that Ohanaeze must be mindful of the fact that Kanu would have been released if the Nigerian government had adhered to court orders.

Writing on X, the renowned lawyer stressed that Ohanaeze should be fully aware that Kanu is a victim, not a villain.

Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President of Ohanaeze, recently revealed plans to meet with Tinubu in order to discuss the urgent need for Kanu’s release.

During a courtesy visit to the leadership of the Supreme Council of Nigeria Traditional Rulers, Southeast chapter, led by President HRM Eze Iheanyichukwu Nwokenna of Abia State, Iwuanyanwu made this known at his Glass House Orji-Owerri office complex.

He noted that the visit to the President is focused on addressing the various issues affecting the people of the South East geo-political zone.

Iwuanyanwu further explained that the push for Kanu’s release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) has become imperative due to the deteriorating security situation in the region.

According to him, certain individuals exploit Kanu’s name and his incarceration to perpetrate crimes in the region, emphasizing that they are solely driven by their own selfish interests.

Responding to these developments, Ejimakor posted the following statement: “In meeting with Tinubu, Ohaneze should be strictly guided by the fact that MAZI NNAMDI KANU would not be in detention if Nigeria abided by the law in not subjecting him to extraordinary rendition; or complied with the court orders to release him. He’s the victim, not the villain.”
