Armed Robbers Strike in Otukpo: Gov. Alia Condemns Attack

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has expressed his strong condemnation for the recent armed robbery attacks on several commercial banks in Otukpo town. The violent incident resulted in the loss of innocent lives and the brazen theft of an undisclosed amount of money.

The audacious gunmen stormed four banks in Otukpo, wreaking havoc for hours. Tragically, six customers and four policemen were mercilessly gunned down, with many others sustaining serious injuries.

The attack, which took place during a Security Council meeting at the Government House in Makurdi, is deeply troubling. Governor Alia vehemently condemned the incident, labelling it an affront on the state and its people.

In a statement released on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those brutally murdered in the robbery. He stated, “It is an unfortunate development that individuals who were simply carrying out their duties, especially police officers, were callously shot and killed by these ruthless robbers.”

The Governor assured the public that the perpetrators would face justice, as security agencies were already on their trail. He called on the people of Benue State to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

This brazen attack serves as a reminder of the importance of community watchfulness and prompt reporting of potential threats. Together, we can create a safer environment for all.
