South-East PDP Adopts Udeh-Okoye as Consensus Candidate for National Secretary

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-East Zone has unanimously selected Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye, a former PDP National Youth Leader, as the party’s new National Secretary. This decision was reached during the South-East Zonal Executive Meeting held in Enugu over the weekend.

The meeting, graced by the presence of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and other key party members from the South-East zone, was a platform for constructive deliberations on critical party matters.

During the meeting, the party also rallied support for Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in Imo State. They called on members within the state to set aside their differences and work collectively towards securing victory for the party.

Speaking on behalf of the South-East Zone, Chief Ali Odefa, the PDP National Vice Chairman, confirmed the resolution passed during the meeting, nominating Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary of the party. The aim is to enable Senator Anyanwu to fully concentrate on his electioneering campaign in Imo State without the burden of administrative distractions.

“Selecting a National Secretary who hails from Enugu State in the person of Rt. Hon. S.K Udeh-Okoye to replace Senator Samuel Anyanwu is in line with our collective decision. This is a strategic move to ensure the success of the party at the polls,” said Odefa.

He further explained that the resolutions reached at the meeting would be communicated in writing to the National Working Committee of the party for ratification by the National Executive Committee, in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution.

Odefa emphasized that supporting Senator Anyanwu is a shared responsibility. He urged all PDP members in Imo State to give their utmost commitment to ensuring the victory of the party in the forthcoming November 11th gubernatorial election.

Reiterating the zonal leadership’s commitment to revitalizing the party, Governor Mbah, the leader of the PDP in the South-East zone, encouraged party members to remain resolute and loyal. He assured them that with unity and a well-strategized approach, the party would emerge triumphant in the Imo governorship polls.
