Delta State APC primaries for the House of Representatives concluded without incident, producing a slate of candidates across all federal constituencies. Returning officers announced the winners, while party officials and elected leaders praised the conduct of the exercise as transparent, peaceful and reflective of growing party cohesion.
In the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency, the returning officer, Charles Aniagwu, declared Hon. Ramson Onoyake the victor. Chief Bernard Jagboro and Hon. Madis Emerorota, agents of Onoyake and Odiate Obaro Emmanuel respectively, thanked the party hierarchy for a free and fair process and lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for facilitating a level playing field.
The Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency returned Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi as its candidate. In Aniocha/Oshimili, Chairman of the National Assembly Primaries Committee for Delta State, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo, reported that direct primaries – conducted from the ward level up to the constituency collation centres – proceeded smoothly, noting a complete absence of violence or irregularities. The Returning Officer, Val Arenyeka, announced Hon. Ndudi Elumelu as the winner after collation at the Oshimili South Secretariat. Elumelu described his emergence as a collective victory for the people of Aniocha/Oshimili.
Hon. Erhiatake Ibori‑Suenu secured the nomination in Ethiope, while Hon. Dagidi Andaye, council chairman of Bomadi Ward Two, witnessed a calm exercise in Bomadi/Patani, where the party’s adherence to the Electoral Act was highlighted by early voter turnout. In Ughelli North/Ughelli South and Udu, Hon. Ejiro Waive was declared winner; party chairman Comrade Lucky Ofomukoro praised the transparency of the process.
Incumbent Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko defeated challenger Hon. Dickson Ebegbare to retain the Isoko ticket, and the Warri Federal Constituency saw a high turnout that prompted commendations from local leaders, including Warri South Council Chairman Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro and APC state chairman Comrade Richard Pessu, who credited President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for ensuring equity among aspirants.
In Ika, Mr. Emmanuel Osazuwa emerged as the APC candidate, while Hon. Julius Pondi won the Burutu nomination. Across all constituencies, party officials described the primaries as orderly, with the adoption of Option A4 voting in several wards cited as a factor enhancing transparency and accountability.
Governor Oborevwori, after casting his vote in Okpe, reflected that the enthusiastic participation underscored the party’s unity and strengthened its prospects ahead of forthcoming national elections. Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, speaking from Ndokwa West, lauded Option A4 as the most truthful voting method, emphasizing its role in preventing deceit.
The smooth conduct of the primaries signals robust internal democracy within the Delta State APC and sets a benchmark for forthcoming electoral contests.
