Lagos State Government Welcomes New Cabinet Member and Permanent Secretaries

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has inaugurated a new member of the Executive Council and two Permanent Secretaries. The ceremony took place at the Lagos House in Ikeja.

The appointment of a new member to the State Executive Council is aimed at enhancing the healthcare system. Mrs Oluwakemi Ogunyemi, a trained nurse and two-term member of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, has been sworn in as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health.

In addition, two directors in the state civil service have been promoted to the position of Permanent Secretaries. Mr Adewunmi Ogunsanya, who has been serving as the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, is now the Permanent Secretary for the Cabinet Office. Meanwhile, Mrs Iyabo Seriki-Bello, previously the Director of Administration and Human Resources at Education District IV, has assumed the role of Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).

During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu congratulated the new appointees and emphasized the high expectations placed upon them. He expressed confidence that their wealth of experience and knowledge in governance would ensure their successful discharge of responsibilities.

“I welcome Mrs Oluwakemi Ogunyemi to the State Executive Council. With her confirmation by the House of Assembly, she will be serving as Special Adviser on Health. Given her extensive experience, I expect her to quickly settle into her responsibilities and contribute towards the realization of the government’s programs and activities.” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.

The newly-appointed Permanent Secretaries were also commended for their appointments. The governor acknowledged the significance of their roles, highlighting their pedigrees and years of experience in the service of the state. He expressed confidence in their ability to swiftly settle into their new positions and discharge their duties effectively.

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the appointees to familiarize themselves with the administration’s development agenda, known as THEMES Plus. He emphasized the government’s commitment to gender equality and youth inclusion, evident through the appointment of women and young individuals to key positions.

The Lagos State Government remains focused on implementing its programs and activities as part of its development agenda. The governor reiterated his confidence in the appointees’ abilities to contribute towards the successful realization of these objectives.
