Tragic Incident: 20 Lives Lost in Bandit Attack during Maulud Celebration in Katsina

In a devastating act of violence, armed bandits mercilessly targeted innocent worshippers during the celebration of Maulud in the peaceful Kusa community, located in the Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State. Mournfully, the unprovoked attack claimed the lives of at least 20 people and left many others abducted.

The assailants, operating under the cover of darkness, struck the village at approximately 11:05 p.m., swiftly engulfing the serene atmosphere with chaos and sorrow. Prior to the security forces’ arrival, the bandits swiftly fled, leaving behind a trail of desolation and despair.

A vigilant member, who recounted the brutal incident to Media Talk Africa, revealed the harrowing details. “The bandits encircled the venue where the Maulud celebration was taking place and unleashed a barrage of gunfire on the unsuspecting participants. Numerous individuals were gravely wounded, and the assailants took multiple captives to an undisclosed location. Tragically, the aftermath revealed the heartbreaking discovery of 20 lifeless bodies within the village.”

The police spokesman in Katsina, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the report and provided further information. “Yes, there was an attack in Musawa LGA around 11 p.m. during the Maulud procession. The bandits launched the attack, injuring 18 people with gunshots. The injured individuals were immediately transported to the hospital for treatment. Regrettably, two of them succumbed to their injuries. We are currently conducting an extensive investigation to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.”
