On a fateful Sunday, tragedy struck as five individuals lost their lives and another suffered injuries in a harrowing accident at the Ososa Junction on the notorious Sagamu-Benin Expressway. The incident involved eight individuals, with only two managing to escape unscathed.

Speaking to the press in Abeokuta, Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the grim details of the accident. An unregistered Mack truck tragically collided with a Honda Accord, which also lacked proper registration.

Mrs. Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speed and reckless overtaking by the driver of the Honda Accord, ultimately resulting in the devastating collision. She further disclosed that the injured individual was swiftly transported to the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, while the deceased were respectfully placed in the morgue at the same medical facility.

Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic loss. Our roads demand our utmost attention and adherence to safety measures to avert such grievous incidents in the future.
