The Federal Government is set to put the Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, on trial today for alleged economic sabotage-related offences. The trial, which was initially disrupted, is scheduled to take place at a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to a notice obtained by Media Talk Africa, Emefiele will be arraigned before Justice Hamza Muazu, along with a co-defendant, Ramalan Yaro.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a court registrar confirmed that Emefiele will appear in court this morning to enter his plea.

Maxwell Opara, a member of Emefiele’s defence team, also verified that the former CBN Governor has been served the notice of arraignment.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Matthew Burkaa has undertaken to bring Emefiele to court for the trial. This comes after Justice Olukayode Adegbola Adeniyi of the FCT High Court granted him bail.
