Emeka Ozoani clarifies role in Diezani’s case

Emeka Ozoani, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has issued a disclaimer regarding a report published by some media outfits, alleging that he is representing billionaire businessman Benedict Peters at the ongoing proceedings in the Southwark Crown Court involving Mrs Alison-Madueke, a former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum.

In the disclaimer made available to newsmen, Ozoani categorically stated that the content of the report was inaccurate, false, and misleading, emphasising that he neither acted for nor represented Benedict Peters or any other person connected with the case.

Ozoani clarified that his presence in the United Kingdom was coincidental and that he attended the court proceedings out of personal interest in the high-profile case involving the former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum.

He asserted that he did not speak with or offer views to any journalist or any media on the case or its proceedings.

Ozoani is consulting English lawyers to take the necessary steps to address the injurious publication and protect himself from any additional damage caused by the speculative report.

The disclaimer, dated November 5, 2023, refuted the suggestion that Ozoani claimed to have travelled to the UK to represent Benedict Peters, emphasising that any such suggestion is false and malicious.
