Akwa Ibom House of Assembly Commits to Swift Passage of 2024 Budget Bill

The chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance in the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Dr. Itorobong Etim, has given assurance that the 2024 Appropriation bill will be passed before December 31.

Addressing reporters on the bill presented to the Assembly by Gov. Umo Eno, Etim emphasized the need for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to collaborate with the Committee during the budget defense to facilitate the prompt passage of the 2024 budget.

Etim, who represents the Uruan state constituency, underscored the continuity of government programs, stating that the governor would sustain the initiatives initiated by the preceding administration.

“I want to assure members of the public that the Committee is committed to engaging with MDAs to ensure the swift passage of the bill,” Etim affirmed.

She urged heads of MDAs to cooperate with the committee, stressing zero tolerance for undue delays during the budget defense process.

Furthermore, the chairman highlighted the governor’s emphasis on channeling the 2024 budget towards enhancing the agricultural sector to achieve food sufficiency for the residents of Akwa Ibom.
