The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has dismissed rumors of discord between himself and President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the President’s support as unwavering and lasting. During an APC rally in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, on Saturday, Tinubu emphasized his commitment to leveraging the state’s agricultural potential to address its developmental challenges. He stated, “I have supported Buhari even before his first day in office. I will continue to be his supporter and friend after his last day in office.”

Tinubu praised Buhari for confronting issues that previous leaders avoided, asserting that the President has secured a significant place in history. He remarked, “I have said this before and will say it again now: when the true history of this moment is written, President Buhari shall be treated very kindly because of his contributions to the nation.” He urged the populace to reject opposition candidates, claiming their vision for Nigeria is flawed and self-serving. “Their vision for Nigeria is the vision of one who cannot see. They seek to enrich themselves by making you poor. They want to eat everything so that you might go hungry,” he said, asserting that the APC’s vision for a greater Nigeria would prevail over what he termed the opposition’s “blind vision for a broken Nigeria.”

Tinubu warned against being misled into returning to a past devoid of hope and agency, asserting that the APC remains the best and only hope for a more prosperous and peaceful nation. He also commended Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle for his efforts in addressing the state’s security challenges, emphasizing that he and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, possess the necessary experience to restore peace not only in Zamfara but across the nation.

In a statement issued by the Tinubu Media Office and signed by Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Tinubu expressed his determination to tackle security issues if elected. “If Allah blesses us to win this election, we will not relent until we beat this problem. My running mate has battled Boko Haram. As governor of Lagos, I too have fought kidnappers and violent criminals. We will use our experience and our vision to defeat the wrongdoers,” he stated. He outlined his security plan, which aims to empower all branches of security forces by increasing personnel and enhancing their capabilities to identify, pursue, and apprehend criminals using modern air and ground technology.

Regarding his economic plans for Zamfara, Tinubu highlighted the state’s rich natural resources and expressed his intention to collaborate closely with the state government to attract suitable investments in mining. He assured that these investments would not exploit the people of Zamfara but would instead lead to safer mining practices, better job opportunities, and increased economic growth for the state. The APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and Governor Matawalle also spoke at the rally, urging the people of Zamfara to support Tinubu for a prosperous Nigeria.
