Poverty Major Culprit in Alarming VVF Rates, Says Expert Surgeon

Renowned family medicine consultant and fistula surgeon, Professor Sunday Lengmang, has underscored the prevalent issue of Vesico-Vaginal Fistula (VVF), linking it to poverty. Lengmang, the Project Director of the Evangel VVF Center at Bingham University Teaching Hospital in Jos, Plateau State, made these assertions during an interview with journalists in Taraba State.

He further stressed, “the root cause of fistula is poverty because it is poverty that makes women not deliver in the hospital.”
