Zamfara State Governor Bans Traditional Rulers from Issuing Mining Consent Letters to Tackle Insecurity

In a significant move to combat the escalating issue of banditry in Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has taken a definitive stance by signing an executive order to prohibit traditional rulers from granting consent letters for mining activities. The executive order, signed in the Council Chambers at the Government House in Gusau, seeks to address the detrimental impact of unauthorized mining on the state’s security landscape.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, emphasized that the ban encompasses the issuance of consent letters to individuals, companies, or organizations for mining operations.
