Kaduna Electric Confirms No Increase in Electricity Tariff for Customers

In a recent statement, Kaduna Electric, a major power distribution company in the northwest region of Nigeria, assured its customers that there will be no increment in electricity tariff within its franchise areas. Despite the new tariff order and the ongoing review by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), the current rates paid by customers will remain unchanged.

Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the Head of Corporate Communication at Kaduna Electric, made this announcement, bringing relief to customers in Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi. While the NERC predicts a substantial electricity subsidy of N1.6 trillion in 2024 through the Federal Government’s subsidy scheme, Kaduna Electric clarified that any tariff adjustments will only happen after the subsidy regime ends.

This development provides stability and clarity for consumers amidst the dynamic landscape of energy pricing in Nigeria. As the nation grapples with economic challenges, this assurance from Kaduna Electric offers a sense of security for households and businesses reliant on electricity, fostering trust in the company’s commitment to transparent communication and customer satisfaction.
