Nigeria’s broadband penetration drops to 40.85%

Nigeria’s broadband penetration dropped to 40.85 per cent in September 2023 from 45.47 per cent in August of the same year, a recent telecommunication indicator data released by the Nigerian Communications Commission revealed.
Also, the data showed that the nation’s teledensity dropped from 115.63 per cent in August 2023 to 102.30 per cent in September.
The Director of Public Affairs NCC, Reuben Muoka, said, “With the consequential adjustment, which is in line with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) ‘s calculation of teledensity, the nation’s teledensity dropped from 115.63 per cent to 102.30 per cent in September, while Broadband penetration witnessed a similar drop from 45.47 per cent to 40.85 per cent in the same month”.
However, according to NCC, the country recorded an increase in active voice and internet subscriptions in the period under review.
