Nigerian National Assembly Leaders Head to Cote d’Ivoire to Support Super Eagles in AFCON Quarter Finals

In anticipation of the quarter-finals clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Palancas Negras of Angola, principal officers of the Nigerian National Assembly are set to visit Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, to rally behind the Nigerian team at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Senator Kawu Sumaila, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, confirmed this during a briefing in Abuja. Following the Super Eagles’ victory over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the round of 16, they secured a spot in the quarter-finals at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium.

Sumaila revealed that not only the principal officers but also the joint Committees on Sports of the National Assembly will travel to Abidjan to bolster support for the Super Eagles.

Expressing his satisfaction with the Nigerian team’s performance, Sumaila declared, “The principal officers of the National Assembly and the two Committees on Sports will also be in Cote d’Ivoire to watch the quarter-finals with Angola.”

When asked about the fate of Super Eagles’ coach, Jose Peseiro, the lawmaker stated, “We will look at it after the competition. I am sure of victory for the Super Eagles against Angola.”
