Nigeria Takes Action to Address Nationwide Power Outages

The Nigerian Government has stepped up efforts to resolve the electricity blackouts affecting various parts of the country. Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, announced that a committee has been formed to address the ongoing drop in electricity supply. After meeting with electricity distribution and generation companies, Adelabu highlighted the critical issue of gas supply shortages impacting power generation.

Adelabu stressed the urgency for generation companies to establish reliable contractual arrangements with gas suppliers to ensure a consistent flow of gas for power generation. He also revealed plans to collaborate with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources to prioritize gas supply to the power sector.

In response to the challenges surrounding gas supply and liquidity, Adelabu emphasized the formation of a committee comprising all stakeholders. The committee is tasked with developing recommendations to tackle these issues and to ensure a more dependable and steady power supply for the Nigerian population.

The recent drop in power supply has been attributed to limitations in gas availability, as cited by Minister Adelabu. With the government’s proactive measures, there is optimism for a resolution to these pressing energy challenges.
