Kabiru Dogo has resigned from his position as head coach of Wikki Tourists FC following a disappointing start to the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League season. Reports indicate that Dogo did not travel with the team to Port Harcourt for their match-day five encounter against Rivers United, scheduled for Wednesday. His resignation became public on Tuesday afternoon.

This marks Dogo’s departure in his second season with the club, having joined the Bauchi side at the end of the 2021 season. During his first season, Wikki finished 15th on the table, just three points above the relegation zone. He managed to lead the team to a 10th place finish in the 2022 season. However, expectations for improvement in the current abridged season have not materialized, as the team’s performance has been lackluster, earning only one point from four matches. That solitary point came from a home draw against Doma United on Sunday, with the team recording three losses and one draw.

In light of the poor results, the club’s management had issued a two-game ultimatum for the technical staff to turn the season around. However, Dogo’s resignation now leaves the responsibility for addressing the team’s struggles to the remaining coaching staff. Abdullah Adamu, the team’s head coach, will take charge of the upcoming match against Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
