Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto lost his Special Adviser on Female Education, Aishat Maina, on Tuesday.

Hajiya Maina died in Sokoto on her way out of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential rally for Atiku Abubakar.

The deceased was caught in a stampede that occurred at the exit gate of Giginya Stadium, the venue of the rally.

Chairman of Forum of Special Advisers, Ibrahim Magaji Gusau, confirmed the incident, recalling her last moments.

Gusau said Maina was rushed to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, where she died minutes after admission.

Maina was formerly chairperson of the National Woman Journalists Association of Nigeria, NAWOJ, in Sokoto.

She served as Senior Special Assistant to Tambuwal on New Media before her deployment to Female Education Board.

Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Chairman in Sokoto, Isa Abubakar Shuni, praised Maina for mentoring female journalists in her lifetime.

The late government official is survived by three children and aged parents.
