Renowned Islamic Cleric Wanted by Bauchi Police for Contempt of Court

The Bauchi State Police Command has issued a Special Gazette Bulletin, declaring Dr. Idris Abdul’azeez, a well-known Islamic cleric, as wanted for alleged contempt of court. The Inspector-general of Police ordered this action, urging individuals with information about the cleric’s whereabouts to report to the State Police Command or the nearest police station. Additionally, the command stated that a “handsome reward” awaits those with information leading to the cleric’s arrest.

The development follows the Upper Shari’a Court 1 in Bauchi metropolis issuing a bench warrant against the cleric. This came after the cleric refused to appear before the court to continue his trial in a case involving alleged incitement of public disturbance.
