Tinubu Vows to Boost Food Production Amid Rising Hardship

In response to escalating hunger and adversity in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has pledged to take all necessary measures to expand food production and transform the country into a net exporter. The President’s commitment was disclosed by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement following a visit from the Global Tijaniyya Movement delegation, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

During the meeting, President Tinubu assured that his administration would provide support for initiatives aimed at facilitating ease and assistance for Hajj pilgrims. He also emphasized the significance of spiritual endeavors in nation-building and underscored his administration’s dedication to backing religious activities. Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of collaboration between political and spiritual leaders to advance national interests and foster unity among the people.

In the realm of agriculture, President Tinubu outlined plans to enhance agricultural productivity through a series of initiatives. These include the expansion of farmlands, provision of low-interest loans to farmers, and substantial investments in irrigation infrastructure. His vision involves equipping hospitals with modern equipment, delivering training to healthcare professionals, and ensuring comprehensive health insurance coverage for all citizens.

President Tinubu reiterated, “Nigeria will become a net exporter of food. We are bringing thousands of tractors. Food production will be greatly expanded through aggressive mechanization. We must be productive as a people. That is the Sunnah and the principles I grew up understanding.”

Sheikh Mahe Niass, the Khalifa of Tijaniyya, conveyed the delegation’s commendation for Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s peace, progress, and stability. Expressing confidence in the President’s leadership, he conveyed the emotional support and prayers of the Global Tijaniyya Movement members to the Nigerian leader.
