The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has refuted rumors regarding the suspension of its governorship candidate in Abia State, Sunday Onuoha, along with three other ADC candidates for the 2023 National Assembly elections. This clarification was issued by the South-East Zonal Secretariat of the ADC in a statement signed by Chilos Godsent, the National Vice Chairman for the South East, in Owerri, Imo State.

The ADC expressed its disappointment over the false information being disseminated by an individual named Norman Obinna, who claims to be the chairman of the ADC in Abia State. The statement clarified that Obinna has been expelled from the party since September 2022. It urged the people of Abia State to disregard the misleading news propagated by Obinna, which aims to tarnish the reputation of the party and its candidates for personal gain.

Furthermore, the statement highlighted that Norman Obinna has been removed from the ADC due to various offenses, including misappropriation, leadership ineptitude, and anti-party activities. As such, he is not a member of the ADC and does not hold the position of chairman in Abia State.

The South East Zonal Secretariat of the ADC suspects that Obinna may have been hired by opposing political parties to create confusion within the ADC and among the electorate in Abia State. The ADC is aware of the growing popularity of Bishop Sunday Onuoha and the party itself, which has caused concern among rival political groups in the region, especially in light of the crises affecting those parties.

The ADC concluded by emphasizing that the people of Abia State should not passively accept attempts by adversaries to undermine their future and the well-being of over six million residents.
