President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Nigerian Senate to vet and confirm nominees for the boards of three crucial institutions: the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON), and the National Population Commission (NPC).
Tinubu’s written requests, read out during Senate plenary, outlined the nominations for each organization. For the CBN, five individuals were nominated as board directors: Robert Agbide, Ado Wanga, Murtala Sagaley, Urom Eke, and Olayinka Aliyu. Tinubu’s letter emphasized compliance with specific provisions of the CBN Act, 2007.
The nominations for NAHCON include Jalal Arabi as chairman; Aliu Abdulrazaq as Commissioner of Policy, Personnel, & Finance; Anofi Elegushi as Commissioner of Operations; and Abubakar Yagawal as Commissioner of Planning & Research. Additionally, regional representatives were nominated for various zones across the country.
In the case of the NPC, Hon. Amidu Tadese Raheem was nominated as Commissioner. Tinubu’s correspondence underscored adherence to constitutional provisions.
Tinubu called upon the Senate to consider and approve the nominations promptly, expressing hope for the usual expeditious deliberation. The letters reflect the standard protocol for such appointments, as recognized by Nigerian legislative proceedings.
