The Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese, Most Rev. David Ajang, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to take urgent action in addressing the challenges of hunger and insecurity plaguing the nation.
Speaking at a Thanksgiving Mass organized by the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, at St Aloysius Catholic Church, Doma, Most Rev. Ajang emphasized that addressing hunger and insecurity would not only foster peace but also greatly enhance the living standards of the Nigerian people.
“Security is a big problem, and the second one is hunger. I think something needs to be done,” remarked the bishop, underlining the critical nature of the current situation.
Citing various verses from the Bible, the cleric urged Christians and Nigerians at large to steer clear of wrongdoing, emphasizing that doing so would lead to inheriting God’s kingdom. Most Rev. Ajang also encouraged Nigerians to utilize their God-given talents to promote peace and progress in the nation.
Furthermore, the bishop admonished the youth to abstain from cybercrime and all other forms of illegal activities. “Young people must desist from all forms of crime; that way, our society will be better,” he emphasized.
Most Rev. Ajang advocated for the expression of gratitude to God as a means to attract divine favor and blessings, calling on Christians to consistently demonstrate thankfulness.
