NGX Suffers Losses as Market Slides by 3.15% on Monday

The Nigerian Exchange Limited struggled on Monday, with the All-Share Index plummeting by 3.15%. The market capitalisation, which began at N57.849 trillion, nosedived by N1.82 trillion, closing at N56.028 trillion.

Leading the decliners were MTN and Dangote Cement, each experiencing a 10% drop to reach N247.50 and N686.70 per share, respectively. Conversely, Juli Plc emerged as the top gainer, ascending by 9.52% to close at N1.61, followed by Sunu Assurances and ABC Transport, which gained 6.74% and 6.67% respectively.

In terms of trading volumes, Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) took the lead with 28.85 million shares valued at N1.13 billion. Transcorp and Access Holdings also saw significant activity, trading 20.14 million shares worth N275.93 million and 15.90 million shares worth N359.5 million, respectively.

The market closed with a largely negative sentiment, as 36 stocks declined while 16 appreciated.
