Ebonyi State APC Chairman Urges Nigerians to Embrace Farming Amid Economic Hardship

Amidst the prevailing economic challenges in Nigeria, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the Ebonyi State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has advocated for a return to agriculture as a solution to the increasing hunger faced by Nigerians.

In an interview with reporters in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, Emegha emphasized the pivotal role of farming in addressing the escalating food shortages. He urged Nigerians to utilize their backyard spaces for cultivating vegetables and raising poultry, envisioning a reduction in the demand for household food supplies through individual agricultural efforts.

Emegha underscored the collective responsibility of all Nigerians, regardless of social class, in tackling the nation’s present challenges. He urged a proactive shift towards agriculture and urged families to prioritize food cultivation, asserting that self-sufficiency in food production would alleviate deprivation.

Addressing the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) call for the resignation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu due to the intensifying hardship, Emegha emphasized that the issue of hunger transcends political affiliations. He issued a challenge for all Nigerians to re-engage in crop and livestock farming to counter the prevailing hardships.

The chairman’s counsel reflects a growing concern over the plight of Nigerians during a period of economic turmoil and underscores the potential of agriculture as a remedy to alleviate the nation’s food insecurity.
