Tinubu Urges Swift Action for Citizens’ Welfare

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has emphasized the need for prompt and efficient handling of policies affecting the welfare of citizens and the economy. During a meeting with high-ranking civil servants in Abuja, he urged them to prioritize the well-being of Nigerians and to work diligently to improve their lives.

Tinubu expressed his displeasure with inefficiencies and unnecessary bureaucracy that hinder interventions on the economy and programs aimed at helping vulnerable citizens. He mandated the implementation of monthly briefings and submission of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports for review, as well as the scheduling of quarterly interactive meetings between himself and the Body of Permanent Secretaries.

Emphasizing the importance of serving the nation, Tinubu underscored the need to change the perception of Nigeria and Africa at large. He called on public servants to embrace a generational understanding of their role in shaping national history and stressed the impact of their actions on over 200 million people in Nigeria and abroad.

Tinubu urged civil servants to fulfill the promises of uplifting Nigerians out of poverty, cautioning against further exacerbating their vulnerability through unnecessary delays. He underscored the need for swift action, emphasizing that compounding the existing challenges with unacceptable delays is not just shameful but also unacceptable.
