Nigeria Customs Service Enhances Leadership Team for Improved Efficiency

The Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi, has recently approved the appointment of two key management staff and the redeployment of four others. This strategic move aims to strengthen operational effectiveness and ensure optimal service delivery within the organization.

According to Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, the spokesperson for the service, these appointments and redeployments come in the wake of recent retirements and are part of a broader initiative to revitalize the customs service.

The newly appointed Deputy Comptrollers General (DCG) and Assistant Comptrollers General (ACG) are expected to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to key areas such as revenue generation, anti-smuggling efforts, and trade facilitation. Their collective experience and proficiency are anticipated to drive the Nigeria Customs Service towards heightened efficiency and performance.

Comptroller General Adeniyi praised the appointees for their exemplary service records and urged them to approach their new responsibilities with a renewed sense of dedication. He highlighted the essential role of the Nigeria Customs Service in advancing the nation’s interests and stressed the significance of upholding integrity, professionalism, and quality service provision.

Underscoring the service’s commitment to protecting the country’s economic welfare, promoting international trade, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, Adeniyi emphasized the importance of adapting to evolving challenges and seizing growth opportunities.

Among the newly appointed officials are J.P. Ajoku as DCG Strategic Research and Policy, B.M. Jibo as Acting DCG Excise, Free Trade Zone, and Industrial Incentives, I.Q. Ogbudu as ACG Excise, Free Trade Zone, and Industrial Incentives, I.O. Babalola as ACG/Zonal Coordinator Zone B, H.J. Swomen as ACG/Zonal Coordinator Zone A, and F.A. Abdulazeez as Acting ACG/Zonal Coordinator Zone D.

This strategic reinforcement of leadership within the Nigeria Customs Service underscores a commitment to operational excellence and sets the stage for navigating future challenges while capitalizing on growth prospects.
