In a bid to address the rising cases of traffic offences and violations leading to a surge in road accidents, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has given the green light for the establishment of a Traffic Tribunal. The Governor also disclosed plans to establish two truck parks in Gusau, the State capital, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion caused by trailers.
The announcement was made during the Zamfara State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Gusau. Governor Lawal emphasized the urgent need for intervention to manage the escalating road accidents in the State. He emphasized the importance of infrastructure development under his administration’s urban renewal projects, including ongoing road constructions.
To support the initiatives, the Governor approved the immediate recruitment of 250 individuals for the Zamfara Road Traffic Agency (ZAROTA). This move is expected to bolster the State’s efforts in enhancing road safety measures and maintaining traffic orderliness. The Governor’s decision showcases a proactive approach to tackling pressing issues affecting the State’s transportation sector.
During the Council meeting, comprehensive reports were presented, detailing the progress, challenges, and projected timelines for various ongoing projects across sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and law enforcement. The updates underscored the Government’s commitment to holistic development and efficient service delivery to the citizens of Zamfara State.
