In preparation for the upcoming governorship primary election on April 25, members of the Ondo State House of Assembly have rallied behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Speaker Olamide Oladiji, along with 12 other lawmakers, expressed their unwavering support for the current APC-led government in the state during a visit to the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress Party in Abuja.
Acknowledging the crucial role played by President Buhari and APC national chairman Abdullahi Ganduje in resolving a recent political crisis in the state, Speaker Oladiji emphasized the assembly’s commitment to continuity. “We want APC to continue governing Ondo State. We are confident that the primary elections will be conducted peacefully,” he stated.
Addressing concerns raised by a few members of the House of Representatives in a letter to the President, Oladiji clarified the assembly’s position. “We, the honorable members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, stand united in our support for the current administration. With 15 out of 22 APC members present here today, we reject the claims made in the aforementioned letter,” he asserted.
Highlighting the peaceful atmosphere maintained under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, Oladiji emphasized the assembly’s proximity to the grassroots and their firsthand knowledge of the state’s affairs. “We are not here to deceive anyone. We are here to set the record straight,” he affirmed.
As the political landscape in Ondo State continues to evolve, the unwavering support of the state assembly for Governor Aiyedatiwa and the APC-led government sets the stage for a dynamic and promising future.
