Frontline APC Governorship Aspirant Paul Akintelure Dies Amid Threats

Paul Akintelure, a prominent governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has tragically passed away. Prior to his untimely death, Akintelure had voiced concerns about the threats to his life, both direct and indirect. Despite the escalating danger, he remained hopeful for a better future.

In a statement made on Thursday, March 21, 2023, Akintelure bravely declared, “The threats against me only strengthen my resolve to stand up for what is right and just. I will not allow fear to dictate our path forward. Let us embrace peace, progress, and unity, standing together as one despite our differences.”

Akintelure, who previously ran as the deputy governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) alongside Rotimi Akeredolu, ultimately lost to Olusegun Mimiko of the Labour Party in the election. He also contested a senatorial election against the Peoples Democratic Party candidate but was unsuccessful. A medical doctor hailing from Igbotako, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Akintelure’s passing comes amidst the growing momentum leading up to the Ondo governorship election.

The loss of Paul Akintelure serves as a reminder of the risks and challenges faced by those in the political arena. His dedication to standing up for justice and unity will be remembered by all who knew him. May his legacy inspire others to continue the fight for a better future.
