NNPP South West Zone Declares Changing Logo Without Consent Illegal

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the South West Zone is facing controversy over the recent change of its logo. The zone has declared that any attempt to alter the party’s logo without the consent of its members is illegal.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the zone, Hon Kilamuwaye Badmus, the electorate did not have any issues with the party’s logo during the 2023 general elections. The NNPP recently held a mini convention where they decided to change the party’s logo and slogan.

NNPP National Secretary, Mr Dipo Olayokun, explained that the change was made in response to complaints from members during the last elections, stating that the previous logo was not visible enough. However, Badmus strongly opposed the decision, emphasizing that changing the logo without the consent of the South West Zone members is illegal.

He pointed out that the same logo, which Olayokun claimed was inadequate, played a significant role in the party’s success in Kano State, where they won the Governorship seat and secured a majority in the national and state assemblies.

Badmus criticized the mini convention as illegal, accusing the organizers of attempting to transform NNPP into the Kwankwasiyya Movement. He argued that there was nothing wrong with the current logo and questioned the rush to change it, especially in defiance of a court order.

The South West NNPP firmly stands by its position that the new logo is invalid and illegal. Badmus stressed that changing a party’s logo should involve all members and that the efforts to defend the decision are futile.

The controversy surrounding the NNPP’s logo change highlights the internal divisions within the party, with the South West Zone adamantly opposing the decision made at the mini convention. The future of the party’s branding remains uncertain as the debate over the logo continues.
