NNPP South West Leader Criticizes Logo Change for Kwankwasiya Movement

The South West leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, has voiced his concerns regarding the recent decision to change the party’s logo. In a press conference held in Ibadan, Oyo State, Olopoeyan criticized the lack of consultation with party leaders and stakeholders, particularly in Kano State where the political movement of Kwankwasiya holds significant influence.

According to Olopoeyan, the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, along with the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Working Committee (NWC), failed to consider the implications of the new logo on the party’s grassroots support. He emphasized that the unilateral decision to change the logo, without proper consultation, could have detrimental effects on the upcoming local government elections in states like Oyo.

Olopoeyan highlighted the symbolic significance of the previous logo, which was closely associated with the Kwankwasiya Movement and the red color representing Kwankwaso’s political identity. He expressed disappointment in Kwankwaso’s perceived authoritarian approach to party decision-making, citing the expulsion of the Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman as evidence of a power struggle within the party.

As Oyo State prepares for local government elections in the coming weeks, Olopoeyan raised concerns about the lack of time to familiarize party members and voters with the new logo. He stressed the importance of inclusivity and collaboration within the party, urging Kwankwaso and party leadership to reconsider their approach to decision-making for the sake of party unity and electoral success.

In conclusion, Olopoeyan’s remarks shed light on the internal dynamics and challenges facing the NNPP, underscoring the need for transparent and consultative leadership in navigating the complexities of Nigerian politics.
