Late Nollywood actor, Mr Ibu to be interred June

Late Nollywood actor, John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu will be buried on the 28th June, 2024 in his hometown , Amuri, in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The burial date contained in the burial arrangement was released by his family on Saturday  jointly signed by his brother Elder Sunday Okafor and the entire family. 

In a statement released by his family, the late actor is to be buried as a hero who made his home community, Enugu and Nigeria proud during his lifetime. 

The statement reads, “The Okafor family in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West LGA in Enugu State wishes to honor the loving memory of our hero and a legend John Ikechukwu Okafor who even in death has left a legacy of love, laughter and liveliness.

“We would appreciate your esteemed presence as we lay to rest our son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and in-law on the 28th of June 2024.

 “Kindly join us as we share the best and last moments with our icon.”

According to the burial arrangements, the burial ceremony is set to kick off on Tuesday, June 25th with a high-profile novelty match. 

The schedule for Wednesday, June 26 includes an event called Mr Ibu’s Night, featuring a candlelight procession and live entertainment.

On June 27, a Christian Wake-Keep will be hosted at his compound in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West, while the funeral service is slated for June 28.

The five-day burial ceremony will draw to a close on Sunday, June 30th, with a Church Thanksgiving celebration for family members, friends, and well-wishers.

Recall that the actor passed way at the age of 62 after a prolonged battle with health issues.
