Former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that he remains the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite the recent attempt to suspend him by his ward executives. This decision comes after Justice A. M Liman of the Federal High Court in Kano intervened and halted Ganduje’s suspension.
The court ruling also prohibits all respondents and their agents from implementing any decisions made at the executive meeting of the APC held at the Ganduje Ward of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area on April 15, 2024. This injunction will remain in place until the court hears and determines the suit filed by Ganduje to uphold his fundamental rights.
In response to these events, Ganduje expressed gratitude towards the party executive members and ward officials from Ganduje Ward who stood by him and rejected the alleged plot to oust him from the party’s leadership. He attributed the suspension attempt to Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), suggesting that it was a ploy to weaken the APC in Kano State ahead of future elections.
Ganduje voiced his concerns about the NNPP government’s actions, accusing them of causing economic damage, political violence, and a decline in political ethics within Kano State. He emphasized the need to protect the integrity of the APC and resist external interference from rival political parties.
