261,703 PVCs Uncollected in Ondo Ahead of Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported that over 261,703 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) remain uncollected in Ondo State ahead of the November 16 governorship election.

Resident Electoral Commissioner Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure. Out of 1,991,344 registered voters in the state, 1,729,641 have collected their PVCs. Babalola also mentioned that all 210 centres for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise have been identified and listed on the INEC website.

Eighteen political parties will participate in the November 16 gubernatorial polls.

Prof. Kunle Ajayi, INEC National Commissioner supervising Ondo, Ogun, and Osun States, urged stakeholders to mobilize prospective registrants for the upcoming CVR. Ajayi emphasized the importance of early registration, avoiding double registration, and preventing underage registration.

The new CVR exercise will run from May 27 to June 5, 2024, daily from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, including weekends. Ajayi noted that many young individuals will have reached the voting age of 18 and encouraged eligible voters to register during this period.
