During the Ministerial Sectoral Updates in Abuja, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, affirmed Nigeria’s abundant crude resources, capable of supplying all domestic refineries, including modular ones. He addressed concerns about the alleged importation of crude by Dangote Refinery from the US, emphasizing the need for increased domestic production through drilling activities.

Lokpobiri refuted speculations about the continuation of fuel subsidy under the Tinubu administration, asserting that the government had abolished it. He clarified that while subsidies might exist in other forms like food, there was no ongoing subsidy for fuel as of the present.

The session, attended by key officials including Minister of Budget and National Planning Atiku Bagudu and Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike, aimed to provide updates on various sectors, marking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s one year in office.
