Qatar Airways Partners with SpaceX’s Starlink to Offer High-Speed In-Flight Wi-Fi

Doha, Qatar – Qatar Airways, the world’s largest airline to collaborate with SpaceX’s Starlink, has announced plans to introduce high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi on its flights. The service will be rolled out on three Boeing 777-300 aircraft by the end of this year, with an ambitious goal to extend this across its entire fleet within the next two years.

This partnership marks a significant step in the aviation industry, promising passengers access to complimentary Wi-Fi speeds of up to 350 Mbps. This speed is capable of supporting a range of online activities from gaming and video streaming to VPN access and browsing, offering an unparalleled connectivity experience at cruising altitudes.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “This exciting collaboration is not only in line with our industry-leading approach to technological adoption but also serves as an unmissable opportunity to connect Starlink to our global passengers.”

Jonathan Hofeller, Vice President of Starlink Commercial Sales at SpaceX, highlighted the magnitude of this collaboration, saying, “With Starlink set to support the entire Qatar Airways fleet, passengers traveling between over 160 destinations around the world will be able to stay connected with the most advanced high-speed internet service from space.”

This move by Qatar Airways, coupled with the recent recognition by AirlineRatings as the best airline for 2024, further cements its commitment to enhancing passenger comfort and experience. As the aviation industry continues to evolve, Qatar Airways is leading the way in prioritizing the passenger experience with innovative solutions like Starlink’s high-speed Wi-Fi.
