Daniel Bwala has criticized Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, following the recent meeting between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and First Lady Remi Tinubu. Bwala suggested that the photograph of Tinubu’s wife with Obasanjo would cause Obi significant distress.
Obasanjo visited Remi Tinubu on Monday to pay Sallah homage, a gesture that followed his appearance wearing a cap bearing President Bola Tinubu’s insignia. Despite their different political affiliations, both hailing from the Southwest, Obasanjo supported Obi during the 2023 presidential election, despite efforts by Tinubu and some Afenifere leaders to secure his endorsement.
Reacting to the meeting, Bwala commented on X, “This picture would give sleepless night to Mr P alias ‘Greengory.’ @PeterObi. I personally know of three prominent Pentecostal Bishops that have also abandoned him and his ‘take back your country hate speech.’ My big uncle Pat Utomi would soon abandon him too. Mark my words.”
Bwala’s remarks highlight ongoing political tensions and shifting alliances within Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly following the controversial 2023 presidential election.
