Astro Bot Gameplay Footage Leaks, Shows Off-Beat Platforming Action
A leaked gameplay video of Astro Bot, the upcoming sequel to Astro’s Playroom, has given fans a glimpse into the 3D platformer’s exciting features. The video, captured off-screen at the ChinaJoy digital entertainment expo in Shanghai, shows over eight minutes of gameplay from the PlayStation exclusive.
As spotted by VGC, the footage details Astro Bot’s platforming mechanics and abilities, as well as its encounters with enemies and bosses. The game’s title bot, Astro, can be seen taking on a giant octopus boss, reminiscent of the challenging boss fights in Super Mario Odyssey. The video also showcases Astro’s traversal mechanics, as it travels to different levels within a galaxy on an aircraft.
Astro Bot is a sequel to Astro’s Playroom, a free-to-play platformer that comes pre-installed on every PS5 and serves as a demo for the console’s haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features. Developed by Team Asobi, the game will be a space adventure platformer, offering a much more expansive experience than its predecessor. Players will be able to explore six galaxies and over 80 levels, as well as hunt down Astro’s crew.
The game will feature diverse environments and new powers for Astro to help take down enemies and giant bosses. Astro Bot will also incorporate DualSense controller features for a more immersive experience. As a PS5-exclusive, Astro Bot is set to launch on September 6, with pre-orders now live. The Standard Edition of the title will cost Rs. 3,999.
