Iran's Revolutionary Guard Confirms Assassination of Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has confirmed the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, with Hamas blaming Israel for the attack. The incident occurred while Haniyeh was in the city for the inauguration of President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Iran has not revealed the circumstances of Haniyeh’s death, and the Revolutionary Guard stated that they are currently investigating the incident. However, Hamas claims that Haniyeh was killed in a Zionist airstrike on his home in Tehran after he participated in the inauguration of Iran’s new president.

The assassination comes after a deadly attack by Hamas on October 7, which resulted in 1,200 fatalities and around 250 hostages. Israel has committed to eliminating Haniyeh and other Hamas leaders in response to the attack. An Israeli military spokesperson has yet to respond to inquiries.

Haniyeh has been living in exile in Qatar since he left the Gaza Strip in 2019. His death is likely to escalate tensions between Israel and Hamas, which has been at the forefront of the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

This development is significant, not only for the Middle East region but also for the global community, as it highlights the ongoing struggle for power and control in the region. As the situation continues to unfold, it is essential to stay informed and follow credible sources for updates.
