Kamala Harris to Name Running Mate, Embark on Swing Through Key Battleground States

US Vice President Kamala Harris to Name Running Mate Before Touring Battleground States

In a move that promises to shake up the US presidential election landscape, US Vice President Kamala Harris is set to reveal her running mate on Tuesday before embarking on a five-day swing through some of America’s most crucial battleground states.

Harris’s campaign has been making waves since she replaced Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket, shattering fundraising records and effectively wiping out the leads built by Republican rival Donald Trump. According to a reliable source, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a rising star in the Democratic Party, was the favorite to join Harris as her vice-presidential pick.

Recent reports suggest that Harris has narrowed her choice down to Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, with a video announcement likely to confirm her decision. In a surprise move, Harris maintained the suspense by sending a text message to supporters Monday evening, stating, "I have not made my decision yet."

The 59-year-old and her chosen deputy will hold a rally at Temple University in Philadelphia on Tuesday, followed by stops in Wisconsin and Michigan on Wednesday, Arizona on Friday, and Nevada on Saturday. Initially, Harris planned to hold events in battlegrounds North Carolina on Thursday and Georgia on Friday, but local media outlets reported that a tropical storm battering the southeastern states forced the postponement. No response has been received from the Harris campaign on the matter.

As the presidential election approaches, all eyes are on Harris’s choice for running mate, which promises to have a significant impact on the race’s outcome.
