Nigerian Army Neutralizes 2 Bandits in Zamfara, Restores Peace to Region

Nigerian Troops Neutralize Two Bandits in Zamfara

In a recent operation, Nigerian troops from the 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully neutralized two bandits in a fierce encounter in Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara.

According to a statement by Sulaimam Omale, the acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations (ADAPR) in Gusau on Sunday, the Sector 1 Joint Task Force in North-West “Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD)”, under Operation Sahel Sanity II, has continued to record successes in the fight against banditry in Zamfara and the North-West region.

The operation occurred on August 16, 2024, when the troops, under the directives of the Commander 1 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North-West) Operation Hadarin Daji, neutralized the two bandits during a fierce encounter. The troops responded swiftly to credible intelligence reports of violent extremist activities in the area and engaged the elements in a serious gun duel, effectively neutralizing two of the violent extremists.

The operation also led to the recovery of one operational motorcycle belonging to the violent extremist, and the area has since been secured by the troops, who are maintaining an aggressive presence and conducting confidence-building patrols to ensure the safety of locals in the community.

“This success indicates the ongoing commitment of operation Hadarin Daji to rid Zamfara out of banditry and restore peace and security to the region,” said Mr Omale.

The Nigerian Army’s relentless efforts to combat banditry and extremism in the region are a step towards restoring peace and stability to Zamfara and the North-West region.
