Champions League Qualifiers: Young Boys, Red Bull Salzburg, and Sparta Prague Secure Spots

In a thrilling conclusion to the Champions League play-offs, at least three clubs have secured their spots in the new-look 36-team competition. Young Boys, Red Bull Salzburg, and Sparta Prague emerged victorious after the second legs of their play-offs on Wednesday.

Swiss side Young Boys claimed a 4-2 aggregate win over Galatasaray, thanks to a 1-0 away victory in Turkey. Alan Virginius scored the winner in the 87th minute, securing the win for Young Boys.

Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg will be making their sixth consecutive appearance in the main phase of the competition, following a 1-1 draw at home to Dynamo Kyiv. They wrapped up the tie 3-1 on aggregate and will be one of two Austrian sides in Thursday’s draw, joining Sturm Graz.

Czech champions Sparta Prague also made it through qualifying, completing a 4-0 overall triumph over Swedish side Malmo with a 2-0 win. This marks their first appearance in the Champions League group stage since 2017.

The four remaining spots in the Champions League will be filled on Wednesday, as the remaining teams compete in their play-off matches.
