Flood Devastation: President Tinubu Expresses Concerns, Assures Support

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the devastating floods that have ravaged communities and farmlands across Nigeria. In a statement released on Wednesday, his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said the president is particularly worried about the plight of bereaved families, farmers, displaced communities, and those who have lost property.

According to recent data from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), thousands of hectares of farmlands have been damaged, and thousands of people have been displaced by the floods. The president has assured Nigerians that his administration will continue to provide the necessary support to victims, and has urged concerted efforts to address existential environmental concerns and build a more climate-resilient and adaptive society.

In a statement, Ngelale quoted the president as saying, "We will also continue to issue timely warnings to mitigate the impact of environmental mishaps." The president has also expressed his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in the floods, saying, "The President prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased."

The president’s administration has committed to providing support to those affected by the floods, and has urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of environmental disasters.

It is essential for the government and relevant agencies to work together to address the root causes of environmental disasters and provide timely support to those affected. The president’s assurance of continued support is a positive step towards helping those affected by the floods.
