Nigeria’s Non-Oil Exports Surpass $2.7 Billion, Records 6.26% Growth in H1 2024

Nigerian Non-Oil Export Revenue Sees Significant Surge

The Nigerian government has made an astonishing announcement, stating that non-oil export revenue has shot up by 6.26 percent in the first half of 2024, reaching an impressive $2.7 billion. The latest figure is a significant jump from the $2.539 billion recorded during the same period last year.

According to Nonye Ayeni, the Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, this remarkable achievement can be attributed to the Council’s innovative "Operation Double Your Exports" initiative. The program has stimulated growth through enhanced partnerships, advocacy, capacity-building programs, and export interventions.

A successful government transition in May 2023 and the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda have also had a positive impact on the country’s export revenue. Ayeni highlighted these efforts as crucial in driving the substantial growth in Nigeria’s non-oil exports.

The non-oil export revenue generated in the first six months of 2024 amounts to an astonishing 3.834 million metric tonnes, valued at $2.7 billion. This represents a notable 6.26 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.

The achievement marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s push to diversify its economy and reduce its overreliance on oil exports. As the African giant continues to focus on non-oil exports, it is likely to draw further attention from global investors and industry stakeholders.
