Rep. Jeremiah Umaru Presents N10.6 Million Cash Prizes to Winning Secondary Schools in Nasarawa

Rep. Jeremiah Umaru (APC-Nasarawa), on Saturday, presented N10.6 million cash prizes to various winners of a debate organized for 35 secondary schools in his constituency. The gesture aimed at promoting quality education within the constituency.

Speaking at the event, Umaru, representing Akwanga/Nassarawa-Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency of the state, expressed his excitement about the level of confidence and composure exhibited by the participants. He praised the students for showcasing high intellectual prowess during the exercise.

Umaru promised to continue impacting his constituency and reiterated his plan to make the debate an annual event. He emphasized that the program was designed to create a strong network for the students and provide them with a platform to build their capacities in public speaking.

Command Science Technical Secondary School, Rinze, Akwanga, emerged as the overall winner, while Baptist Academy, Wamba, and Shepherd International College Akwanga, emerged as first and second runners-up. The winners received a total of N1 million, five laptops, and other prizes.

Umaru also presented prizes to the best speakers, including N500,000, one laptop, and educational materials to the remaining 32 schools that participated in the debate.
