WTO DG Okonjo-Iweala Warns Against Using Her for Propaganda

WTO Director General Warns Against False Propaganda

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), has issued a warning to "political hacks" against misusing her name for propaganda purposes.

Speaking on Sunday, Okonjo-Iweala expressed frustration at being associated with a fake article criticizing Governor Alex Otti of Abia State. The article purportedly quoted her as expressing support for the Enyimba Economic City project, a developmental initiative launched by the government.

"I have taken screenshots of a fake article purported to be written by me about Abia State and its Gov HE Alex Otti that tries to fraudulently build on my recent speech on a Social Contract for Nigeria," Okonjo-Iweala wrote on her social media post. "Political hacks beware of using me for propaganda. I shall take action."

Okonjo-Iweala has vowed to take action against those responsible for fabricating the article, which she insists is entirely false. Her efforts to correct the misinformation have been met with fierce opposition from the "political hacks," who are accused of misrepresenting her views for their own political agendas.

This development highlights the critical importance of verifying information and combating propaganda in today’s digital age. By taking a strong stance against those who seek to manipulate public opinion for their own gain, Okonjo-Iweala has demonstrated her commitment to honest and transparent communication.
